Ketonuria

High level of ketones in a pet's urine is a condition known as ketonuria, usually resulting from a buildup of these substances in the pet's blood. A ketone is a type of acid, which, if allowed to accumulate in the blood, can lead to ketoacidosis, a potentially fatal condition. The main health conditions that can cause high ketone levels are starvation and diabetes.
